Make a Towel Origami Bird

Use these instructions to make a bird from a hand towel and a washcloth. This is an original design of mine. I can't decide what kind of bird this is. I'm leaning toward loon. If you have any ideas, cast a vote in the comments section.

Instructions

    • 1

Fold a washcloth in half diagonally. Line up the two points that meet.

    • 2

Roll the washcloth from the fold almost to the corners.

    • 3

Fold the roll in half leaving the corners sticking out and set aside. The corners form the bird's beak. You'll probably need to adjust the lower beak a bit to make it more realistic.

    • 4

Pleat a hand towel six times along it's length.

    • 5

Wrap the pleated towel around the bird's head washcloth. Point the beak toward the front. You may be able to pull the tails of the washcloth out at the bottom to form feet.

    • 6

Overlap the ends of the towel lining up the bottom two corners. Spread out the top corners to form the wing tips.

    • 7

Push the edges of the towel in a bit to separate the tail and the wings of the towel bird.

    • 8

At this point you're almost done. You may want to make some minor adjustments. Messing up the birds breast a bit can make it look more realistic.
