How to Decide Business Casual Attire For Women
Don't confuse business casual with casual. When dressing for a business casual activity, women do have plenty of options, but the key is to look professional and polished. Avoid jeans, flip flops and outfits you'd wear for a night of drinking and dancing.

Follow your company policy for dress. Business casual can mean different things for different industries and companies. Creative industries and media organizations may be fine with a women who wears a pair of dark trouser jeans and a blazer, but an insurance company may strictly ban jeans in the office. Looking polished is usually the rule so clean, wrinkle free skirts, button down shirts or blouses, pants and dresses are a must.

Dress for what you're doing that day. If you're meeting a client for lunch, wear a suit. But if you're staying in the office all day in front of the computer, you may want to wear a nice pair of khakis, loafers and a cardigan. Business casual allows you to strike a balance between polished and comfortable.

Always wear shoes that you feel comfortable in and that go with your outfit. Typically, women wear closed toed leather shoes. Sandals might be considered too casual. Avoid stiletto heels.

4
Dress for the season. Sweaters, tweeds and opaque tights are perfect for fall and winter. Light blouses, floral skirts and wrap dresses are appropriate for the spring and summer.

5
Keep accessories to a minimum. A nice pair of pearl earrings, a simple necklace or a classic gold or silver bracelet are perfect for casual business outfits. Personalize with a bright colored leather belt or scarf.
