Things You'll Need:
- 2 5-oz. Skeins Bernat Soft Bouclé or Soft Bouclé Stripes
- Size 10 knitting needles
- Crochet hook
-
Step 1
Cast on 30 stitches. This is done by making a slip knot (loop) onto one of the knitting needles, leaving around 2 inches at the end.
-
Step 2
Hold the needle with the yarn in your left hand and, using the right hand, take the other needle and place it under the yarn on the right side. Make a loop with the yarn from the skein over the right needle and lower that needle keeping the yarn on it. Then lift that needle and place the loop on top of the already existing stitch. Remove the right needle. Repeat this for a total of 30 stitches.
-
Step 3
Knitting the scarf. A knit stitch is similar to casting on stitches. Holding the needle with the yarn in your left hand, place the other needle under the first stitch and make a loop with the yarn from the skein over the right needle, lower the needle through the stitch on the left side, keeping the yarn on the right needle. Then lift the stitch on the left needle up and over the needle again keeping the yarn on the right needle.
-
Step 4
Cast off. Knit until the scarf has reached 6 feet or whatever length is desired. For the last row, knit 2 stitches, then pull the newly made stitch over the first stitch. Continue this until the end.
-
Step 5
Cut the last loop, leaving 2 inches and pull through, then knot. Using a crochet hook, pull the remaining yarn through several stitches. Repeat this process at the beginning of the scarf and with any loose ends from knots apparent within the scarf.
