Instructions

    • 1

First before your interview you need to do a little research on the company. It is good to be knowledgeable about the company during the interview and knowing the details of the position you are applying for.

    • 2

Second you need to prepare yourself for the type of questions you may expect. For example a lot of employers ask what are you best at and will also ask what are your weaknesses. It is good to have an answer to both questions. You always want to give the impression that you could make some improvements on yourself or your work. Also be prepared to ask questions that relate to your previous work experience. What did you like best about the job and what did you least about the job? Already reviewing these questions will better off help you in the interview by not saying the wrong thing or stumbling over your words and may also make you appear not as confident. You should also think of some questions you want to ask them. This lets them know that you are very much interested in working for their company. Also bring a copy of your cover letter and resume in case they may have misplaced it.

Step three which could be one of the most important steps is your dress attire. You can never take back a first impression. You may have to do some research on this but you should always dress a level above from the position you are applying for. However, keep it professional you do not want to come across revealing too much skin.

Finally during the interview walk in with a smile and give a firm handshake. Don't rush your answers but think them through clearly and above all be confident. Stress your years of experience if they are related to the field. Be sure to make plenty of eye contact and be very attentive. You may even use hand gestures because that will make you come off more confident and knowledgeable about the information you are giving. Again also be sure to ask a question of some sort. This shows the employer your interest and that you have done your homework. Always leave with a firm handshake/smile and that it was nice meeting them.

After the interview you should immediately thank the interviewer with a letter or email for taking the time to meet with you and why you feel you are the ideal candidate for the position. Also add anything that you learned from the interview or liked about the company. End the letter or email with a statement such as I am looking forward to hearing from you soon.
