Make online hotel reservations, and save yourself the hassle!

The decision to make online hotel reservations can alleviate the process of booking travel arrangements. Most online hotel reservations are easy to make and very straightforward. And the great thing is they can be made from the comfort of your own home or on the go, if necessary.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

(Locate a hotel website.) If you know the hotel that you would like to stay in, simply log onto its respective website to begin making an online reservation. If you are traveling, or don't know where to stay, you should use an online hotel reservation website like Booking.com, Hotels.com or Travelocity.com to book a room.

  2. Step 2

(Fill in search information.) This step online applies to online hotel reservation websites. You will be prompted to fill in basic travel information to find the right hotel for you. These searches normally ask for the location you will be visiting, how long you plan on being there and so on. You may fill in more specific information to narrow the hotel search.

  3. Step 3

(Browse the hotel selection.) Look through the online hotel reservation website's suggested hotel matches for one that meets your accommodations. Once you find a hotel that you like, it's time to book a room.

  4. Step 4

(Book a room.) Scroll down the selection of rooms, and pick the one that best suites your needs. You may be asked to register with the online hotel reservation's website to book a room, but in most cases, you can do so without. Simply follow the onscreen instructions and fill in the necessary payment information to book your room.

  5. Step 5

(Request hotel room confirmation.) Make sure to request confirmation that the online hotel reservation was successful. It will usually be a copy of the itinerary emailed to you, but this is important so you have proof that the hotel room was booked.

Tips & Warnings
  • You might want to run an additional search on the hotel you choose, to verify if it is an acceptable place to stay.
  • Read the online hotel reservation website's cancellation policy BEFORE booking your room. Some hotels have very rigid rules for cancelling a hotel reservation, so make sure you are familiar with them.
