A bloody Mary is the perfect Sunday brunch cocktail. Don’t buy a bloody Mary cocktail mix if you plan to make this drink, however. Instead, mix up the savory drink from scratch, using tomato juice and a handful of other ingredients. Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need

  • Vodka
  • Tomato juice
  • Limes
  • Celery
  • Salt and pepper
  • Fresh horseradish
  • Worcestershire sauce
  • Garlic

Instructions

      Combine 4 cups of tomato juice, the juice of one lime, 1 tablespoon of fresh horseradish and 1 clove of garlic in a blender. Blend until smooth and ingredients incorporated.

      Season to taste with Worcestershire, salt, ground black pepper, and hot sauce for added heat, if desired.

      Fill four to six bar glasses with ice and divide the tomato mixture between them. Add vodka to each glass, measuring with a shot glass, and stir. Add celery stalks, olives and lemon or lime wedges to the glasses as garnish.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you prefer your drink spicy, you can either purchase pepper vodka or make your own by placing the desired amount of vodka in a sealable container and adding dried or smoked chili peppers, and allowing it to sit covered in the container overnight.
