Cigarette Smoke Can Linger For Years
Cigarette Smoke Can Linger For Years

The smell of cigarette smoke in your car can linger for months and sometimes even years, if you don’t take the right steps to remove it. You may be a smoker yourself, maybe you recently quit, or even let someone smoke in your car. Whatever the reason for the smoke in your car, there is a way to get it out for good without using harsh chemicals. This method is a permanent fix, not a temporary mask

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Mix the vanilla essential oil with the hot water and vinegar in the small bucket. You'll want to mix about 8 drops of the vanilla to about a 50/50 mixture of the hot water and vinegar. Pour the mixture into the spray bottle. More or less vanilla can be used, depending on your preference.

Using the mist setting on the spray bottle, spray all the upholstery in your car. Do not rub the mixture in, simply spray and let it dry. Don't forget your ceiling!

  3. Step 3
    Vanilla Bean

After spraying the upholstery, using your wash rags or cloths, spray and wipe down all the surfaces on the inside of the car. Your mixture is safe to spray on any surface, so be sure to wipe down the dashboard, steering wheel, etc.

  4. Step 4
    Fresh Eucalyptus

Allow vehicle to air/dry out by rolling down the windows. Place 4-5 sprigs of the eucalyptus leaves underneath the seats of your vehicle and leave there, changing the sprigs every 3 weeks or so to keep car smelling fresh and deodorized!

Tips & Warnings
  • Vanilla and eucalyptus are natural deodorizers and will assist in removing, rather than masking, the scent of smoke from your vehicle.
  • Keeping eucalyptus in the vehicle will help to maintain freshness.
  • The mixture will also work great to deodorize a fridge!
  • Do not spray mixture into anyone's eyes.
