Little Orphan Ellie

Hello, I am writing to help all the little Orphans out there. Orphan goats that is. It was my first time and I made some mistakes but it was all worth it in the end

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Your orphan
  • Goat Milk
  • Preached teet
  • empty soda bottle
  • a warm place
  • lots of love
  • medication if necessary
  1. Step 1

First when you get you baby check for any health problems. It's best if you can get a-hold of colostrums because it is very important for the first few feedings. If you notice a cold or wheezing, penicillan will probably be needed. A dose of 1/2 a cc once a day for 4-7 days intramuscular, should nock just about any illness out.

  2. Step 2

Your baby should only be feed a few ounces just 2 or 3 times a day. Over feeding can cause diarrhea and cocsidiouses. For extra fluids you can give your baby electrolytes. This should be done for several weeks. As the baby gets bigger you can feed a few more ounces twice a day. At about 3 wks old you baby will need to be given a tetanus shot and medicine for worms. You will also want to check about having horns removed and getting any little billies castrated.

  3. Step 3

Finally, as your orphan grows over the next couple of weeks you will need to start introducing grains and hay and other goat feeds. Make sure to always have fresh clean water for them to start learning to drink from. And the bottle feedings will get less and less.

Tips & Warnings
  • when in doubt, consult a vet.
  • taking on a responsibility takes a very special kind of person
  • take extra special care for early babies
  • You might fall in love.......
