When you keep tabs on the free space available on your iPhone, you know whether you have enough room to save the content you need. Check your available storage space using the Settings app on iPhones running iOS 8. The Settings app has a dedicated Usage section through which you can monitor both total disk space and how much space individual apps are using.
Check Available Disk Space
To check the available disk space, start by tapping the “Settings” icon on the iPhone’s home screen to launch the Settings app. Tap “General” in the Settings app and then select “Usage” to open the Usage screen. The amount of available disk space is displayed under the Storage heading.
Total Used Disk Space and Individual App Space Usage
The Usage screen also displays the amount of space currently being used on your iPhone. Like available disk space, this figure is displayed under the Storage heading on the Usage screen. Tap "Manage Storage" in the Storage section to see a list of apps on the iPhone. The amount of space used by each individual app is displayed next to that app’s name. Tap an app’s name for more information about its disk usage.
