Call doctors in your area using the telephone and ask specifically if they accept Medicaid. This works well if you aren't computer savvy or have a specific physician that you are used to seeing. When the receptionist answers simply ask if they are accepting Medicaid patients at this time.

Check back at a later date. Some doctors only have certain periods during the year when they accept new Medicaid patients. This is because Medicaid tends to pay less than private insurance companies, so doctors limit the amount of Medicaid patients they accept. Finding out when this time period is and acting on it right away can sometimes secure a spot with a doctor that you want to see.
