Things You'll Need:
- patience
- vision
- impartiality
- personal mandate
-
Step 1
To be an effective teacher you must ensure that you have the state of the art teacher lesson plans. Remember, your lesson plans is a guide for the direction of your students learning. If your lesson plans are below par, then the output of your students will be the same. Plan for excellence as a master teacher.
-
Step 2
To be an effective teacher you must be cognizant of the world that your students live in. One of the most damaging things is to have a teacher that has all of the credentials; teacher certification, subject certification, higher education degrees, but a lack of knowledge about the students backgrounds, home environments, learning styles, etc.. An effective teacher takes the time to educate themselves about the audience in which they will be teaching. This is done when the teacher really cares.
-
Step 3
To be an effective teacher you must have a discipline plan. This plan is two fold. You must be disciplined and you must teach your students to be disciplined. Your example will speak louder than any list of five rules and consequences. Model the behavior that you desire from your students. Students must respect you as an adult. You must respect the student as a human being. Students must follow all guidelines, you must reinforce those guidelines. Teaching is not about teacher salaries, it is about empowering students to learn and apply what they have learned effectively.
-
Step 4
To be an effective teacher, you must seek additional professional development and education. There are many opportunities to gain teacher education online or teacher programs offered by local universities. The more you gain additional information, the better you can prepare your students for a high class education.
