Things You'll Need:
- Invitations
- Great Location
- Food Items
- Camera
- Games
-
Step 1
Decide if you will be hosting your BBQ at home or somewhere away. Parks, beaches and nearby lake areas can provide a great place for this kind of outing. Many parks have Pavilions you can rent for the occasion, but schedule early because Labor Day Weekend is also a popular time for family reunions and employee get-togethers.
-
Step 2
Festive decorations will make the setting memorable. Red, white and blue napkins, colorful paper plates and tablecloths are always a nice touch. If you're hosting an evening BBQ - adding twinkle lights or candles can make the evening seem magical.
-
Step 3
Keep the menu simple. Hotdogs and hamburgers, BBQ chicken, beef plates or ribs. Most guests are happy to make it a 'potluck' affair where each person brings something to contribute to the meal. Don't forget to ask if anyone has special diet restrictions. They may be willing to bring an alternative, or you can tweak the menu so you'll having something on it that they can enjoy eating too.
-
Step 4
Depending on the space you can provide, many people enjoy playing games after they have had their meal and relaxed for awhile. Badminton, volley ball, baseball and horseshoes can be a fun way to spend the afternoon. Have a special area set up for the children to play and lawn chairs that can be easily moved around for those that would rather watch than participate.
-
Step 5
Don't forget the camera! Casual shots taken all during the day are best. Some people like to buy disposable cameras and place them on the tables so guests can enjoy taking pictures too.
-
Step 6
Early preparation and planning can make your BBQ look effortless! Make lists, check the lists twice and most importantly, don't forget to enjoy yourself! In the end, time spent with friends and family will make the best memories of all!
