How to Design a Sales Enticing Storefront
A deliberate, skillfully designed storefront can attract customers to your shop and increase sales. The storefront should be welcoming and enticing at the same time. Your storefront should be clean. It should make your special discounts known. Your best products should be visible to passersby. Drawing customers in takes planning and work, but it could benefit your bottom line with increased foot traffic and transactions. The completion of a sale takes place inside the store, but the first step to successful sales is to lead customers through the door.

Making your storefront tidy sets the stage for a welcoming entrance. Clean the area surrounding your storefront. Wash your glass windows to increase visibility of products and create a sharp image. Pressure wash brick or cement buildings. Treat wooden buildings with care, especially if the building is made of older materials. Clear away dirt and leaves around the entrance and sidewalks.

2
Show customers your best merchandise through the glass of your store window. Display a selection of your most popular and newest products in the store window. Limit your display to a few items, as too many will appear cluttered and confusing to shoppers. A few items with plenty of space around them will make each product stand out. Decorate around a theme if your shop's selection changes with the season. If you have a variety store, show off the diversity of your merchandise by picking different types of items.

Make sure customers can see your specials from a distance. Advertise sales and discounts. You can do this with signs displayed on your store's window or wall or with standing signs along a walkway. Check your local laws regarding sandwich boards and other advertising methods if you are on a public sidewalk. Some cities have ordinances restricting sandwich board advertising in particular, as well as lighted signs. Make sure the font size is large enough for people to read from a distance. Display the discount percentage, and the word "sale," in the largest size that will fit your sign.

Plants outside the storefront are welcoming to patrons. Bring nature to the outside of your store. Your store will seem more warm and welcoming with plants and flowers around. Pick familiar or native plants that make people feel at home. Another benefit of native plants is the ease of keeping them healthy. You can put them in pots along the sides of the entrance or hang them below the roof of the building.

A sidewalk sale is a simple way to encourage browsing. Consider a sidewalk sale. Bringing the inside of your store to the outside encourages passersby to browse. Include a sign letting customers know the inside of the store has a bigger selection. Make sure the items outside are inexpensive. Hang clothing on portable racks. Arrange books on a small shelf or rotating display rack. Offer inexpensive impulse buys like sunglasses, jewelry and other accessories.
