Step 1
Check to make sure your "Hold" switch is in the off position. If you see orange beneath the switch, the Hold is engaged and must be switched before proceeding to Step 2.

Press and hold the Pause/Play button for several seconds. If your iPod turns off, your problem should be solved. If nothing happens, proceed to Step 3.

Step 3
Press and hold the Pause/Play button AND the Select button (the center of the wheel) at the same time. Hold for several seconds until you see the Apple logo appear on the screen. This should reset your Nano.

Step 4
Sometimes it is necessary to connect the iPod to your iTunes program, as you do when you sync it. There is an option in iTunes to reset your iPod to its original settings. When all else fails, use this option to reset your iPod Nano.
