Button down shirts look very nice when they are first bought inside the plastic case all folded and neatly pressed. Most shirts however, never see that state again because not many people know how to fold a button down shirt. The following is a simple process by which you can fold and organize your button down shirts.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Clean Shirt
  1. Step 1

Press the shirt. Make sure the shirt is ironed carefully, especially around the collar and buttons. Lay the shirt on its back on a made bed or a table and button it up all the way. The button down collars should also be done up.

  2. Step 2

Turn the shirt over. Pick up the shirt by the shoulders and turn it over on its reverse side. Smooth all the creases from the fabric and lay it out flat again. Fold the sleeve across the back of the shirt, pulling the edge of the shirt folded about 2 inches also, and fold the sleeve cuff back upon itself, ensuring that the cuff lies at roughly the centre of the shirt back.

  3. Step 3

Fold the other side of the shirt in a similar way. When the shirt is folded on both sides it should be about 9 inches wide. Use this time to straighten any creases that may have formed in the fabric of the shirt and straighten any creases that you are folding along.

  4. Step 4

Fold the entire shirt in half. Take the shirt tails end of the shirt and fold it over onto itself, ensuring that the shirt tail end is behind the collar. Then turn the entire folded shirt over, pressing it down manually, and you have a neatly folded shirt.
