Chop 1/2 cup of equal amounts of fresh chopped rosemary and sage (or 8 tsp., if using dried herbs) and simmer in 2 cups of water for 30 minutes. Remove from heat and let steep for two to three hours. Strain through a coffee filter to remove the herbs.

Wash your hair with your regular shampoo and rinse.

    • 3

Pour the herb water over your hair, making sure to cover all your hair. Leave the mixture on until your hair dries.

    • 4

Add 1 tbsp. of apple cider vinegar to 1 gallon of water. Use this as a final rinse to restore the natural pH balance of your hair and remove any soap residue.

    • 5

      Dry and style your hair.

Tips & Warnings

  • Add 1/4 cup of either chopped catnip or thyme to your herb mix if you want to promote hair growth and add shine.

  • If you want to make the color change more quickly, use the herb mix every time you wash your hair, or increase the amount of herbs you use.

  • Should you stop using your herb mix, your normal hair color will gradually return without unsightly roots.
