Wash A Chenille Fabric

Chenille fabrics are some of the most delicate and beautiful fabrics in the world. They seem almost to delicate to wash actually. This article will teach you how to properly wash chenille fabrics without ruining them.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Take your fabric, whether it be bedding, printed pattern, or just extra cloth and toss it into the wash with your favorite detergent. Wash it on low agitation so that the woven strands won't come loose. Most chenille fabrics are woven in a vertical or horizontal pattern that can cause holes once one strand comes loose. Wash it alone because fuzz tends to be produced and you definitely don't want that on anything else.

  2. Step 2

Take it out of the wash and let it air dry. This is so that it can keep its color fully intact and so that it can have a fresher smell to it.

  3. Step 3

Once it has dried look for strands that might have come loose. Let them be because cutting loose strands tend to create holes down the line.

  4. Step 4

If its expensive chenille let it soak in a tub of warm water with detergent added lightly to the stains. You want to keep your money's worth with the expensive stuff so don't think about throwing it in the wash. Air dry as well though.

Tips & Warnings
  • Less washing will allow your fabric to last much longer
  • If Febreze can do the trick don't wash it
  • Don't wash expensive chenille because it can loose its worth in look
  • Don't dry by machine
