How to Negotiate Hotel Room Prices thumbnail
Save money by negotiating the rate.

Vacationing in today's economic times does have some advantages. It's very common to negotiate almost everything, including your hotel room rate. Here are some simple tips and suggestions that may help you at getting a reduced hotel room rate.

Instructions

    • 1

Start by making your reservations at the hotel of your vacation choice. Be certain that you can afford the reservations that are made, in case you can't get them reduced. Once you arrive at the hotel, ask to speak with the manager prior to check-in.

    • 2

Ask the manager for a reduced room rate in exchange for some reduced services. Assuming you'll be staying for 2 or more nights, ask that in exchange for a lower rate you'd be willing to not have your room serviced. This means, you'd be removing the trash, and sleeping on the same linens for a few days.

    • 3

Exchange a reduced rate by taking the a room on lower levels. In most cases when your traveling, your not often in your room anyway. Be willing to check-in later in the day when they've accounted for their no-shows, cancellations and have additional rooms available.

    • 4

Purchase another associated service being offered by the hotel, such as Spa, Golf or having dinner at the hotel. I have never paid the listed price for any hotel stay using some these tips and suggestions. We usually get about a 10% discount off the booked room price.

Tips & Warnings

  • Don't be afraid to ask for a discounted price or negotiate the room rate.
