Masai bracelets are colorful, pretty, and very easy to make. You can use any colorful glass beads you already own, or go shopping for new beads. This is the perfect accessory for the fall 2009 season. African beads will look fabulous in this bracelet.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 3 pieces of 9” long sterling silver wire, 18 gauge
  • 2 pieces of 4” long sterling silver wire, 18 gauge
  • colorful glass beads
  • jewelry pliers
  • one lobster claw closure jewelry finding
  • sterling silver jump rings
  • 2 sterling silver spacers
  1. Step 1

Take one piece of wire and with the pliers, create one loop at one end. Secure the loop so that the wire does not catch on anything while you are working with it. Gently twist the looped end of the wire around the base of the wire several times so the loop stays in place.

  2. Step 2

Start stringing the beads onto the first wire. At 1/3 of the way on the wire, about 2 3/8”, thread on one of the silver spacers. These spacers will hold the wires in place once the bracelet is finished. Continue threading beads onto the wire until you come to 2/3 of the way down, or another 2 3/8” on the wire, then thread on the second spacer. Finish threading the beads on the wire. Once all of the beads are on the wire, loop the end, using the pliers, and repeat the process as you did with the first loop on the same wire.

  3. Step 3

Repeat the process with the second and third wires. With each wire, thread them through the same spacers. Now you are ready to attach all three wires at each end. Using a 4” piece of sterling silver wire, slide the wire through the loops at one end of the bracelet. Form a triangle with them and with the pliers, twist them at the top to close them, then wind around several times to eliminate any wires sticking out. Repeat the same procedure with the other end of the bracelet where the loops are. Once the triangles are formed, you are ready to attach the closure. At one end, attach a jump ring. You can use the pliers here to open the jump ring, then close it at the end of the triangle. At the other end of the bracelet, attach the silver lobster claw closure. Once the findings are attached securely in place, your Masai bracelet is complete and ready for wearing!
