How to Get Help Paying an Electric Bill

The cost of utilities are increasing and if you are like many Americans, you are already having some kind of financial difficulties.

Most Americans are living paycheck to pay check and an increase in utilities could break them. There is help available for your electric bill.

1. 

   Contact you local electric company, ask to be put on a budget. If the budget amount is still to high, ask if the company offers any other type of assistance. If they do, follow up with their lead.

2. 

   If you were unable to find help paying your electric bill with the electric company, contact the energy assistance program. They will forgive a large portion of your bill each month. Hence giving you a lower monthly payment.

3. 

   You may also contact your local Community Action, they can make a one time payment on your behalf to the electric company.(check the phone book or online)

4. You can contact your local Department of Public Welfare. (check the phone book) They can help with a shut of notice. They also can refer you to other agencies.
