Email President Barack Obama

Are you wondering how to email President Obama? It turns out that not only is it possible to email the President, but Barack Obama and his team at the White House have made it very easy to do so. Read below to find out how to email President Barack Obama.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Internet
  • Email address
  1. Step 1

Visit whitehouse.gov/contact. This is an official White House website. Emails not only to President Obama, but also to his White House staff can be sent from here.

  2. Step 2

Be prepared to give you name, email address, and other contact information. It is important to give accurate information, especially if you wish to receive a response.

  3. Step 3

Choose your subject line from the dropdown menu. The choices include “Message of support”, “I have a policy comment”, and “I have a non policy comment”. Depending on what subject line you choose, another dropdown menu may appear with additional categories. For example, categories under “I have a policy comment” include “Economy”, “Healthcare”, “Education”, etc.

  4. Step 4

Compose your message. Whatever your message, consider using tactful phrasing. Rude emails to President Obama or his White House staff are unlikely to make a difference.

  5. Step 5

Decide whether or not you would like to make your comments public. If you wish to keep your White House email private, check the box “My comments may not be made public”.

  6. Step 6

Decide if you would like to receive a response from President Obama and his staff. If so, check the box “A response is requested”.

  7. Step 7

Submit your message. If you are expecting a response, understand that it may take longer than you wish to receive a reply.

Tips & Warnings
  • Consider calling the White House at 202.456.1111.
  • Also consider writing a letter to The White House 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW Washington, DC 20500.
