Things You'll Need:
- Car Jack
- Spare Tire
- Level Surface
-
Step 1
bing.comThis process really is simple to do and you can save yourself some money in towing fees. Make sure the car\truck is on a level surface. Use a good jack, I prefer to use a lifter jack, a bottle jack will work, but use a scissor jack as your last resort. A scissor jack is dangerous, because the car may fall on you or on the ground.
-
Step 2
Find a good metal support beam to raise the car, close to the flat tire. Do not use a soft location. Normally you can use the area between the tires. Jack the car up, but do not raise the tire off the ground yet. Start loosening the bolts in the opposite pattern (start with one lug nut and begin on the lug nut directly across from the first one). Repeat this pattern for the rest of the nuts. Lossen all the nuts, but do not remove, only loosen them.
-
Step 3
Now continue jacking the car raise the tire off the ground. Keep an eye on the jack, in case it is feeling strained. It is best to jack the car slowly. When the tire is off the ground, stop raising the car, now remove the loosen lug nuts. Try to remove the tire, if it does not come off, jack the car higher until it does. When you have removed the tire, place the spare tire on. Place all lug nuts on and lower the car. Tighten the lugs nuts securely. You are done.
