Step 1
Treat your pet for fleas. There's no point in curing the tapeworm problem, only to have your furry friend swallow another flea! Get rid of them first so the cycle doesn't continue. You should only need to cure tapeworms once.

Don't head to the vet just yet. You can get de-wormer at the grocery store, but most brands don't even affect tapeworms. You need something much stronger. Praziquantel can be used to treat tapeworms for under $20.

Step 3
