Have you ever gotten upset about a bank fee? Use this information to avoid them.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • COMPUTER
  1. Step 1

When you open your bank account choose a banker to be your personal banker. Get his/her business card and keep it with your account information. Make appointments to speak with that same person all the time. This will help establish a better relationship between you and the banker.

  2. Step 2

Ask your PB (personal banker) to set up an online account to check your statements. Set up online bill pay - (this service is free at some banks IE Chase) Set up alerts to email you when your account is below a set limit.

  3. Step 3

When you open your checking account, link a savings account as overdraft protection. Banks are in the business of making money. They can use different tactics to take your money. So check your accounts as often as necessary online, preferably on Fridays.

  4. Step 4

If you notice your account getting low or have received an alert to your email, transfer funds as soon as possible online. The banking systems run like clock work and will not wait to charge you a fee. Mistakes on your part do happen even with all this advance preparation. If you receive a bank fee call your PB and apologize for your oversight and insist that it be removed. Most PBs have the authority to remove a bank fee if you insist. They don’t want to lose you as a customer. Remember.... IT’S YOUR MONEY.....DON’T LET THEM TAKE IT.
