  1. Step 1

    Blueberries have multiple sources of vitamins. These small berries are packed with vitamin b6,vitamin d and vitamin k. In addition these small berries are loaded with antioxidant which help to fight some diseases such as cancer.

    Blueberries are usually ready for picking from May to September depending where you live. Weather conditions also play a big part for blueberries.

    Go online and search for Blueberry farms in your area. Call before going to the blueberry farm ad inquire about he hours, the weather ad the cost.

    When arriving they will supply you with a bucket. They will tell you what aisle to pick. These blueberry bushes re low enough for children to pick as well.

    Do not pick any that are green for those are not ripe. what you want to look for are dark velvety berries. It almost looks like there's a little powder on them.

    Do not hesitate to look at the bottom of the bush for there are plenty ripe berries hiding in between leaves. Some are clustered while others are single.

    Not to worry unlike strawberries there are none of those prickly thorns.
    You can t help but to eat the berries while picking for them. When you are done picking the blueberries take them to the stand where the farmers will weigh them. Prices vary at different places.

    There are so many fruitful and healthy recipes for blueberries. Blueberry pie, blueberry pancake and muffins and so many other delicious and healthy foods. Blueberries are so good that eaten raw is another option.

    Do not wash the blueberries until you are actually going to cook or eat them. The water tends to wilt the skins on these babies. Share some with friends and family or store in plastic freezer bags for another day. Blueberries can be stored in the freezer for several months.

    Why not go blueberry picking since they are in season for such short time? Enjoy before long they will be gone.
