Is your family begging for a new member? Which pet is right for you?

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Your family
  1. Step 1

Get your family together or your roommate to talk about your future pet. Make sure everybody has an idea of what pet they want and make sure nobody has an allergy or a fear of that animal.

  2. Step 2

    How about cats?
Cats are THE most popular household pet in Canada and America. They are a very good idea for first time pet owners. Cats are practical because they can be indoor or outdoor. You may want to keep your cat in the house if there are potential dangers like: dangerous plants, or a busy intersection. If you have an allergy there are certain cats you can still check out- a hairless or a "Rex" (which has fur).

  3. Step 3

    or dogs?
Dogs are quite popular also. The most popular breed is the Golden Lab because it is easy to train and good with children. Some other dogs that are good with children and visitors: Beagles, Labrador Retrievers, Basset hounds, German Shepard's, Newfoundland dogs and mutts. However if you have a small house and do not want to much drool you should get a small dog. Small dogs are more yappy and protective but just as loving. Mini Schnauzers and Jack Russel's are good pets.

  4. Step 4

    Fish or Reptiles?
If your little kid is yelling for a pet you might want to get a fish. Low cost, no shots or needles, and Low maintenance. A reptile like a small salamander is great but a Komodo Dragon,a large snake, or a Chameleon might not be a good idea for first time pet owners, but its up to you!

  5. Step 5

    Other pets...
There are a whole lot of pets like Ferrets, Rabbits, birds that you can try. Please look them up before deciding.
