Flowers and decor should coordinate with the wedding season.

Planning your wedding can become a full-time job in the months leading up to the big day. From choosing the dress, menu and guest list, you will likely have your hands full. Once you have set the date, it is important to consider the season in which the wedding is taking place. Flowers and decorations should coordinate with the season. Not only is this traditional, it is your most cost-effective option.

Instructions

    • 1

Incorporate flowers into your spring décor. This is the time when many flowers, such as tulips, daisies, daffodils, and many others, are in bloom. Instead of a traditional floral arrangement with cut flowers, you may choose instead to display freshly bloomed potted plants to symbolize the symbols of spring. Accentuate with décor that is nature-inspired, for example, green, leafy centerpieces and butterfly or bird-themed art.

Decorate a winter wedding with metallic and jeweled accents that will sparkle on tables or in wall décor. Instead of flowers, you may choose to use bare branches arranged in glass or ceramic vases as centerpieces or use pine evergreen topiaries. Flowers popular for arrangements during this season include poinsettias and baby's breath.

Accent fall weddings with harvest-colored flowers. For example, roses in shades of deep red, marigolds and other blooms in shades of orange and gold will shine in a fall wedding-themed décor. Fall weddings are also characterized with the use of gourds, such as pumpkins or squashes, to accent centerpieces. Choose table runners in shades of browns, cream or even black to contrast the rich, harvest shades.

Keep the décor of a summer wedding light and airy. For example, table linens in shades of crisp white or cool neutrals will work well for these types of weddings. Incorporate different textures into the mix. For example, you may choose to have lace or woven accents to add visual interest to the tables. Simple arrangements of brightly colored flowers or pastel shades, or even buds floating in water and surrounded by candles, will work for this season. For beach weddings, incorporate sea shells and coral into these arrangements where possible.
