Replace a HP Notebook Battery

Laptop batteries are constantly needing to be replaced and HP notebooks are no different. If your HP notebook battery is not charging or holding a charge for very long then you will need to replace the battery. Learn how now!

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Purchase a new HP notebook battery. Make sure that you purchase the right battery before installing it. Write down the model number of your current battery and make sure that the new battery matches that number. There are also websites that have search features that scan your laptop computer and help you find the correct battery. Try to purchase OEM batteries online.

  2. Step 2

Power down your hp notebook and unplug it from the wall.

  3. Step 3

Turn your laptop over and locate the battery. Most are located on the same side that the screen opens on. Unlock the switches and remove the battery. Most will have two switches that simply need to be slid over to unlock the battery.

  4. Step 4

Place your new hp battery in and make sure that the switches lock it into place. Make sure to charge your laptop fully before turning the laptop on.
