Outline your garden with Diatomaceous earth. Slugs and snails do not like it because of its irritating qualities so they will avoid it. Reapply after a rainfall. Diatomaceous earth can be purchased at pool stores. DO NOT USE AROUND EDIBLE PLANTS, only use near inedible flowers. Do not use if you have pets. Diatomaceous earth is toxic.

Use a disposable pie tin and bury it slightly in an area where you have seen the slug trail. The edge of the pie tin should be even with the soil. Fill the pie tin with flat beer. The slugs and snails are attracted to the beer and will slither in and drown. Remove the dead slugs from the pie tins. Replace the flat beer after or a rainfall or every 2 to 3 days.
