Easy fool-proof fix for broken nails!
Easy fool-proof fix for broken nails!

Try this technique to repair broken or cracked Fingernails. Learn how to bond the actual crack back together using a simple at-home "Fiber-Wrap" with common materials. It's easy, practical and barely noticeable. There are many tips for fixing broken nails, most of them use some variation of a fiber wrap on top of the nail, when nail encounters pressure it will break again at the crack because this is a weak point, my method will bond the actual crack which results in a stronger fingernail.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Facial or Toilet Tissue
  • Nail Glue
  • Nail File
  • Scissors (optional)
  1. Step 1

Use 1 thin sheet or 1ply tissue, tear/cut a small square the size of a postage stamp or larger than fingernail.

  2. Step 2

Gently lift edge of fingernail where it's cracked being careful not to tear fingernail anymore.

  3. Step 3

Slide tissue in crack, (you may need help) make sure tissue is laying smooth and flat, not folded or bunched. (Think of laying a bookmark between pages in a book, and you've got the idea.)

  4. Step 4

Apply small drop of glue to tissue at the crack, you will see glue spreading on tissue, quickly (glue dries fast) lift edge of fingernail to allow glue to spread to tissue under the crack, re-align and press fingernail back into place, hold in place for a few seconds. (avoid touching glue)

  5. Step 5

Allow to dry for at least 10 - 15 minutes.

  6. Step 6

Peel away any excess tissue that is not glued in place, using nail file; GENTLY file top of fingernail (and sides if necessary) to remove excess glued tissue. File until top of fingernail is smooth and even.

  7. Step 7

Don't worry that you are removing too much excess tissue, the fibers of the tissue have bonded inside the crack of your fingernail even though you will not see any remaining tissue. Now your Fingernail is good to go!

Tips & Warnings
  • Will work for natural or artificial fingernails.
  • Buff fingernails with some cuticle oil for a healthy appearance.
  • Use caution when working with nail glue.
  • Always follow all warnings and instructions on glue.
