Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • catnip seeds
  • sunny spot in the garden
  1. Step 1

Choose the location in your garden for your catnip. Be sure to choose an open spot where the catnip has plenty of room. It grows real well and can easily take over.

  2. Step 2

Purchase some seeds. You can get these at a local nursery, in a seed catalog, or online. You may even be able to ask a neighbor who grows catnip successfully for extra seeds.

  3. Step 3

Prepare your soil. You need to turn over the soil and remove rocks, weeds and any other debris. Then, add organic mulch to create a rich soil for your catnip to grow.

  4. Step 4

Sow your seeds into the garden about 1/8" deep.

  5. Step 5

Water your seeds. Do not over water. You want the soil to be moist, but not soaked. Do not allow for any standing water.

  6. Step 6

Harvest your catnip when it is 6"-8" tall. Keep in mind that the catnip will shrivel a little when it dries.

  7. Step 7

Use an organic pest control, if needed. Ladybugs are a great way to get rid of garden pests without using chemicals or pesticides.
