If you are considering a kitchen remodel, It is possible and easy to do your own drawing. The biggest problem I have when a client bring their own drawing is not enough information. you cannot have too much info. accurate measurements will make it easy for the designer to present you with a drawing and accurate quote. Follow the simple steps below and sample drawing will make you a pro.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Tape measure(appx 25ft)
  • draft paper or plain white paper
  • calculator
  • assistant to hold tape if needed
  1. Step 1

    Start by drawing a simple square on paper, or L-shape. indicate where doors and windows, gas line, etc are located.

  2. Step 2

    measure from corner of wall to any object alone wall such as window or door.(measure outside casement or molding of object

  3. Step 3

    Starting at corner measure to any object alone wall such as window or door. measure to molding or casing of object. write measurement on drawing

  4. Step 4

    measure from corner wall to center of sink or sink window.
    measure from corner wall to gas line or center of vent hood.

  5. Step 5

    measure height of windows and distance off floor.
    measure floor to ceiling. allow for different heights if ceiling is a cathedral or sloped.
