How to Get Insurance Company to Pay for Lasik Surgery
A very common surgery today is lasik surgery procedures. There are some hidden lasik surgery costs you should be aware of. Hopefully, your insurance will cover all the lasik surgery costs. However, it is up to you to sure you get your insurance company to approve lasik surgery and all of its costs.

Call your insurance company before the lasik surgery and ask them if they cover it. Specifically tell them what type of lasik surgery you will have done.

Get your doctor to send a letter to your insurance company about the need for the lasik surgery. Ask the medical records staff to send in any pre-authorization forms that are needed.

Ask your doctor for a list of typical expenses associated with the surgery. Tell the doctor you want a detail list of the lasik surgery costs that are normally billed to the insurance agency.

Call the insurance agency again. Read out to them the list (from step 3). Check off on the list the lasik surgery expenses that are covered by your insurance plan. Highlight the items that aren't covered.

Ask the insurance company how they handle the cost of lasik surgery complications. You want to make certain that the expenses will be covered.

Write the insurance company. Give them the name of the person you talked to. Ask them for a letter of verification of the lasik surgery costs that you discussed on the phone (from step 4). Get a letter from the insurance company verifying that they will cover the lasik surgery expenses that you have listed.

Make certain that the insurance company doesn't consider the type of lasik surgery as cosmetic surgery or luxury surgery. If they do, it won't be covered under your insurance policy and you will be stuck with the lasik surgery fees and costs.
