Mosquitoes are extremely annoying for everyone unless you live in Antarctica. Research has found that insects are attracted to people who have recently eaten bananas. There are the store bought repellents and products to relieve insect bites, however many contain ingredients that aren't so safe to use. Most commercial insect repellents contain at least four ingredients that cause brain damage. There are several better solutions to use instead.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Putting a sheet of Bounce somewhere on your clothing like a belt loop or around your collar, can repel mosquitoes. This not only repels the mosquitoes, but it can make your clothes smell good.

  2. Step 2

If you put Vicks VaporRub on your skin this will also repel insects. Insects hate the smell of the Vicks. It doesn't smell as good as the bounce, but it's just as effective.

  3. Step 3

Coppertone can also be used to repel insects. Have you ever noticed when your skin is drenched in Coppertone sunscreen that you're not bothered by mosquitoes.

  4. Step 4

Of course there's the popular Skin-So-Soft cream that people have used for years. This lotion makes your skin soft and it also repels mosquitoes.

  5. Step 5

If you do get bitten, try making a paste with Arm & Hammer baking soda and water. Apply the paste to the bite and let it dry. This is also a good paste to use if you get a bee sting. Just make sure if you get a bee sting that after applying the paste, you put a band-aid over the sting.

  6. Step 6

Another solution my mom used was with Adolph' Meat Tenderizer. She made a paste with the meat tenderizer and water, and then she applied it to the mosquito bite.

on 10/4/2009 I didn't know vicks vapor rub, or bounce did this. I can see how it would work by just the smell of it would probably smother them. Both has a strong smell.
I will have to remember the Arm and Hammer Baking soda for this and for bee stings also. Very good information. 5*
