How to throw a tailing fastball

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • a baseball
  1. Step 1

Firmly grip the ball along the seams at their narrowest point. As opposed to a four seam in which you grip loosely.

  2. Step 2

Place thumb directly on the bottom on the leather not on the laces. Once again remembering to grip tighter than the four seamer

  3. Step 3

Put extra pressure pressure with the middle finger, more pressure = more tailing action.

  4. Step 4

Go through your windup stay behind the ball and let it roll off your fingers. If done properly your fastball will have a few inches of break to your throwing arm side. right handed will break down and right, left handed down and left

  5. Step 5

This can be an effective out pitch whether its breaking in on a hitters hands or into the outside corner of the plate. It usually is used more to get ground ball outs instead of as a strike out pitch because of its deception
