How to Make a Low Calorie Smoothie


Smoothies have a reputation for being healthy alternatives to milkshakes, but most of them are high in calories. A normal smoothie will provide helpful vitamins and minerals, but it can have enough calories to cover a whole meal. If you choose to make your own smoothie at home, you can control your calorie intake and control your weight loss or gain.

Things You'll Need

  • Blender
  • 8 oz. apple juice
  • 1 banana
  • 1 cup fruit (frozen or fresh)
  • 1 scoop of protein powder
  • Pour the apple juice and 8 oz. of water in the blender.

  • Peel the banana and break it up into sections. Put the banana in the blender with a cup of any fruit.

  • Blend the mix until it is smooth. Add the protein powder and blend again until the powder is mixed throughout.

  • Pour the smoothie into a glass and serve.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you want your smoothie thicker, just add ice cubes or place in the freezer for about 10 minutes.
