Step 1
First determine whether you have a pink, yellow, olive, bronze or gray undertone.

Second, determine your shade - whether it is ivory, dark ivory, beige, dark beige, bronze, dark bronze, olive.

Find a store, consultant who will allow you to sample foundation colors or use a shade selector. You want to look for a shade which disappears when applied and blended into the jaw line area.

Some other considerations:
Bronze skin shades can be a combination of colors and you made need to combine colors to customize for the shade variations in your skin.
If your neck/chest area is darker than your face color; you made need to use a darker foundation - this can be true during those summer months if you are getting more color. -
Step 5
After selecting 1-2 shades you believe to be correct; wear them in the daylight and your mirror light to further check for accuracy. Also, continue to check throughout the year as your skin color can change depending upon your lifestyle.
