How to Make Do Without a Coffee Filter

When you run out of coffee filters, your options are usually to drink it with the grinds or hold off until you get some filters.

I prefer to use a cloth candy bag. Not only is it reusable, I save a few bucks over time by not needing to buy coffee filters.

Things You'll Need:

• Small cotton bag

1. Find one of those cloth bags gum is sold in, empty the candy, wash the bag in the sink under hot water.

2. If you can't find one of the candy bags, you can make a bag out of a scrap of clean cotton T-shirt material. Cut an wide circle of cloth about six inches across,and make several short cuts around the outer edge for a drawstring.

3. Put coffee in the bag, about as much as you think you need for a few cups.

4. If you have a drip maker, put the bag where the filter goes, otherwise use the bag like you would a teabag. In the case of a teabag, make sure you only put in a tablespoon of coffee. Otherwise it will be way too strong.
