  1. Step 1

    What is a docking station?: Basically a docking station is a hardware device or hub, that allows a laptop to interface (or connect) with it.

    A laptop is easily connected to the docking station by simply placing the laptop above the connector on the docking station and pressing down.

    When a laptop is docked (or connected) to the docking station then this simulates a desktop computer whereas it has it's resources connected, i.e. printer, network, usb connections and so on.

  2. Step 2

    What is the proper way of disconnecting my laptop and then how do I disconnect my laptop from the docking station?

    It is not necessary to turn off your laptop before disconnecting from the laptop but in general practice it is a good idea to save your work before doing so.

    To disconnect your laptop from the docking station then all you need to do is locate the release button on the docking station and press this button down.

  3. Step 3

    NOTE: You may need to review the docking station material in order to locate the release button.

Tips & Warnings
  • If undocking a laptop session that was not powered down then it maybe necessary to reboot if you are having difficulties in connecting to different network paths or Internet connections.
