I was frustrated when I was younger by the red bumps and dry skin that persisted on the back of my arms. The answer is easier than you might think.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Loofah, skin brush, or other exfoliator.
  • Mild soap
  • Body lotion
  1. Step 1

Once a day when you shower, soap up a rough exfoliator and use it on the back of your arms. Something like a loofah, natural sponge, or a skin brush would be fine. Do not scrub too hard, and do not scrub until you are sore, but thoroughly scrub the area affected by the bumps. Soaping the exfoliator is important to keep any bacteria from growing on it, and it helps to keep the scrubbing from being too intense for your skin.

  2. Step 2

Rinse well and gently pat dry with a towel.

  3. Step 3

Liberally lotion the area. If it seems the area could use more lotion throughout the day, by all means do it. Just rub the lotion in and do not leave the skin greasy. Apply as much as you think your skin could soak up.

Tips & Warnings
  • I do not suggest using a bar soap, these sometimes use waxes to keep their consistency. These waxes can clog pores. Bar soaps are often harsh as well. You only need a soap that will be antibacterial.
  • Be careful selecting your body lotion as well. Since you will be liberally applying it after every scrub, it should be free of perfumes. For the lotion and the soap choose something simple, with fewer ingredients and maybe splurge for something organic and natural. Olive oil as an ingredient is particularly effective on this kind of dry skin.
  • If the bumps do not get better or get worse, stop this program immediately. It normally takes about a week to see improvement.
