      Prime the awning:

Before you paint the awning, you must prime the awning first to ensure that the paint remains on a long time. You may be able to buy paint that already has the primer mixed in with the paint. Prime the awning and follow the directions on the primer can as to the amount of time that should be alloted to allow the paint to dry.

      Paint the awning:

It is probably best that you have a 6 feet ladder to hold the paint in the paint pan. This will help you to stay on your ladder near the awning and use the paint roller extension pole to simply dip the roller in the pan. If your awning has rigged rows on it, you can use the roller to simply apply the paint and the paint brush to smooth the paint down on the surface.
