Things You'll Need:
- 3 cups of flour
- 2 tablespoons of baking powder
- a pinch of salt
- 1 cup of Crisco Shortening
- 2 cups of pureed Sweet Potatoes
- 1 teaspoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 cup of sugar
- 1/4 cup of milk
- rolling pin(optional)
-
Step 1
preheating ovenThis recipes starts with you preheating your oven to about 400 degrees. When you have finished turning on your oven get all your ingredients together.
-
Step 2
cutting shortening into flourIn a large bowl place your flour, baking powder, sugars and other spices and mix. The next step you would want to take is grabbing you Crisco shortening and place it in the bowl with your dry ingredients and cut it into the mixture. Cut the shortening up with a fork or a dough cutter until it is blended in well.
-
Step 3
pureed sweet potatoesThe next step is to take your pureed sweet potatoes and pour them into the bowl with the mix. You can buy yourself some sweet potatoes in a can and puree them in a blender or food processor. Once the potatoes are in the bowl add your milk to make your dough. Fold in your sweet potatoes gently until a ball of dough forms in your bowl.
-
Step 4
dough on baking sheetOnce that is done take some flour and spread it along a smooth surface in your kitchen, i prefer to use my kitchen counter with wax paper covering it.
Next take your dough from the bowl. You may want to have a little flour on your hands so the dough doesn't stick to your hands and fingers so badly. Using your hands or a rolling pin that has been brushed with flour roll your dough out until it is about 1/2 inch thick. -
Step 5
Fluffy sweet potato biscuitsWhen you are finished rolling out your dough, take out a cookie sheet or a regular baking sheet and grease the surface. Take your dough and place it an inch apart onto your greased sheet.
Bake your Sweet Potato Biscuits for about 12-17 minutes or until you see they have turned a lovely golden brown
