Zabaglione is an authentic Italian dessert that originates from the Venice region of Italy. It is a simple, light custard that will add an air of sophistication to your dinner party or holiday gathering. Zabaglione can be served with biscotti cookies, fresh figs, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries. peaches, or cranberries. The following recipe makes 6 servings of this tasty Italian dessert.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 5 egg yolks
  • 5 T. sugar
  • 1/3 c. Marsala wine
  • Biscotti (cookies)
  1. Step 1

    Using a portable electric mixer or whisk, beat yolks and sugar in a large metal bowl until thick and pale, approximately 3 minutes.

  2. Step 2

    Carefully, place the large metal bowl on top of a double boiler.

  3. Step 3

    Gradually add Marsala wine to bowl with egg yolks and sugar.

  4. Step 4

    Continue beating mixture with whisk until foamy and tripled in volume. This should take approximately 4 minutes.

  5. Step 5

    Carefully, spoon warm zabaglione into six goblets.

  6. Step 6

    Serve zabaglione with biscotti cookies, fresh figs, strawberries, blueberries, cranberries, or peaches immediately. Remember that zabaglione is best when served warm.
