Learn to make a horizontal tire swing for you own front yard

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A good tire, cleaned
  • strong rope, about 40 feet
  • 3 strong washers
  1. Step 1

Choose a tree with a horizontal branch at least 10 feet above the ground and at least 8" in diameter. The branch you choose does not have to be perfectly straight because the swing hangs from one spot.

  2. Step 2

you need three sections of rope that are long enough to reach from the swing to the branch and allow you to tie knots. Tie the three sections of rope to the tree with a square knot. Tie the three together in an overhand knot, at least two feet above the tire swing. Center the knot so the tire is level.

  3. Step 3

Drill at least three water drainage holes in the bottom of the tire. Then, drill three more holes, from the top to bottom of the tire. Thread the ropes through the holes and a washer and then tie a secure knot.
