Things You'll Need:
- best friend
- pen & pad of paper
- pre-paid debit card
-
Step 1
First and foremost you need to have some idea of what you want in a dress (color, price range, sleeves, staps, etc.). Look through bride books and online to figure out what you like. Go to the library and look in bride magazines from a year or two ago. Stick to this plan, do not divert. This is why your best friend is involved in this and not your mother.
-
Step 2
You and your best friend will go to the biggest bridal store in your area (example: David's Bridal (ohio). Tell the girls working your budget and what style you are looking for. They will direct you to an area with you price range and or style. Also make sure you ask for the discontinued section. Sometimes these items are with everything else based on price range(just because something is no longer going to be made and sold for $800-$1000, don't mean you shouldn't or wouldn't like to have it for $100-$300).
-
Step 3
Take your time scrolling the rack to find what you have in mind. Only try on 3-4 dresses, because chances are you will go with the first one you tried on. Why waste time if you don't have to.
-
Step 4
And finally, put a deposit of a min of $50 to hold the dress. Do this with the pre-paid debit card. Don't let them talk you into a credit card or running your credit. They will hold your dress for 30-60 days while you make small payments. And when you go to pick it up it's all yours and they may throw the garment bag in for free. But if it's a charge don't pay more than $10.
