How to Change a House Alarm Battery
House alarm systems have a battery that powers the alarm system if the power fails. Usually the battery will last for years. When the battery is getting weak or almost dead the alarm system will sound a signal to inform the owner that it is time to replace the battery. Does this Spark an idea?

Unplug power to battery, may need screwdriver to remove screw on plug. Remove screw on battery cabinet. Open battery cabinet and observe if battery is clean and dry, if battery is leaking do not attempt to replace. Note battery size and model number on existing battery.

Remove battery from cabinet and unscrew red and black wire caps on top. Take battery to electronics store and purchase similar battery.

Install red wire to positive or ( + ) terminal of battery. Install black wire to ( - ) negative terminal of battery. Hand tighten screw cap to terminals and then install battery back into cabinet. Re-install power plug into wall outlet.

Tips & Warnings
After installing you may need to send test signal to your unit to cancel the battery alarm signal. If that doesn't cancel the signal call your alarm company to notify them the backup battery was replaced.
Do not replace battery if fluid or acid is around battery. Call trained service technician to deal with abnormal conditions.
