Remove Mildew Stains From Fabric Naturally

It's happened to all of us at one time or another. We go to the dryer and pull out our favorite shirt and right there in the front is a giant stain.

Well, if that stain happens to be a mildew stain, I have just the solution!

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Lemon
  • Salt
  • Water
  • Sunshine
  1. Step 1

    Moisten affected area.
Moistening the area helps it to absorb the lemon juice rather than having it just run off the fabric.

  2. Step 2

    Mix lemon juice and salt.
Cut the lemon in half and squeeze into bowl. Add just enough salt to make a runny paste.

  3. Step 3

    Lay fabric in sunny area.

Find an area in direct sunlight where you can lay your fabric flat.

  4. Step 4

    Apply paste.
Apply a think layer of the lemon juice and salt paste. Leave it in the sun for about an hour. If it's a hot dry day you'll want to keep applying plain lemon juice to the affected area so it doesn't dry out.

  5. Step 5

    Launder as usual.

Tips & Warnings
  • I would normally say to test for color fastness but since, without this treatment, the garment is likely ruined from the mildew stain you can forgo the test.
