When you select a window for which you will hang (or more appropriately "duct tape") your bowl, there is another discretionary measure to take which can help. Hang a very thin (stressing thin) sheet or curtain on the window before you put the bowl against it. I found that it was important to press the bowl firmly up against the window in order to get the signal strength at its strongest. If the wifi directional antenna was out away from the window it was more likely to move and drop your signal. Your wifi antenna range should still be working fine with this curtain of sorts, and hidden from wondering eyes.
