- Crushed Red Peppers

Step 1
hot pepperThe first thing you will need is crushed red peppers that you can find in the spice aisle of your local grocery store. Sprinkle the red peppers over the area you are trying protect. You can sometimes buy the peppers at dollar stores if money is an issue as it is for most people these days.

Step 2
After sprinkling the pepper use a watering can to lightly dampen the peppers so they will not scatter in the wind.

Step 3
Sprinkle new peppers every two to three days until the plants are large enough for the cats to leave them alone.
