How to Make a Light Capturing Paper Star Pattern
These charming paper stars can be hung in windows to capture light. They are very easy to make with materials that you probably already have in your home. This crafting project is simple and fun, and can be enjoyed by the whole family.

- Black construction paper
- Scraps of different colored tissue paper
- Scissors
- Glue
- Pencil

Draw the shape of a star onto the black construction paper. The star can be as large or small as you wish, just make sure it is big enough to cut small windows out in the middle. These windows are where the sun is going to shine though, so you may want to draw the design before you actually cut them. Geometric shapes work well for the windows.

Place two pieces of construction paper together and cut out your shapes. Be careful when cutting out the windows to leave a border of construction paper on all sides, this is how the tissue paper is held in place in the next step. If young children are helping, then adults should be sure to do the cutting.

Cover one side of one of the construction paper stars with glue. Place the different colored scraps of tissue paper over the windows. Once all of the windows are covered with tissue paper, glue the other construction paper star on top so that all edges are lined up. It should look something like stained glass when complete.

Let stand to dry for at least 20 minutes.

Decorate an entire window by creating different sizes of stars and hanging them from different lengths of ribbon.
